Australia sets a new yearly record for solar investment with months to spare
Australia’s clean energy build out is speeding up. According to Clean Energy Regulator data reported by pv magazine, large scale solar projects reaching final investment decision this year have set a new annual record, about 30 percent above the previous best, even with three months left in 2026. Total large scale renewable commitments have reached 5 gigawatts so far, beating the prior full year record. Households are joining in too: rooftop solar added 894 megawatts in the September quarter, and approved home battery capacity under the Cheaper Home Batteries Program has more than tripled this year to 15.3 gigawatt hours. More clean power is coming online in homes and on the grid alike.
